COS’HANNO IN COMUNE MICHAEL JACKSON E L’AMBIENTE ??

Apparentemente nulla. Ma solo apparentemente! Infatti, Michael Jackson, icona del pop, dei video musicali kolossal, degli scandali e del talento scrisse EARTH SONG.

“Ai Brit Awards del 1996 Jackson eseguì il brano “Earth Song” vestito di bianco e circondato da suoi giovani ammiratori e da un finto rabbino. Il cantante si ispirò ad alcune movenze di Cristo, sollevato nell’aria da una gru e con i capelli mossi da un ventilatore. Jarvis Cocker dei Pulp e il suo amico Peter Mansell invasero però il luogo dell’esibizione: Cocker saltò per la sala, tentò di esporre il suo fondoschiena, ballò e assediò il palco. In risposta ai media che ripresero i suoi gesti, Cocker disse: “Ho voluto fare tutto ciò per protestare contro Michael Jackson, per come si ritenga una figura simile a Cristo, addirittura con poteri guaritori… ho corso per il concerto e mi sono messo in mostra… molti altri avrebbero avuto il coraggio di fare la stessa cosa, al mio posto.” tratto da WIKIPEDIA

Una bellissima canzone sui disastri ambientali e sulle catastrofi anche umane che solo noi, “specie umana”, siamo in grado di provocare. Nel testo, come in un canto disperato e impotente, si legge la piccolezza dell’uomo. Ma al tempo stesso la possibilità che prendendone atto forse ci possa essere un freno alla devastazione.
